This is a beautiful 1899 Black Eagle $1 Silver Certificate, one of the most iconic U.S. banknotes ever issued. Known as a “horse blanket” for its large size, this note features a bold Bald Eagle with wings spread across the front.
This example is in fair condition — it has been torn and repaired with old tape likely applied decades ago, giving it an authentic antique feel. While this note is in rough shape, it’s a wonderful opportunity to own a Black Eagle at a much lower price point, especially if you’ve never owned one before.
